Who we are

Two hundred and forty five people have reviewed this company.

The honest headline number on the Google listing is 4.0. The number underneath it is the one worth reading: 179 of those 245 reviews are five stars, and they run back six years rather than bunching into one good month.

Read them and the same things come back. The price was better than the other quotes. The technician found the lid without making a mess. He explained how the system worked to somebody who had never lived on one. And in more than one case, he talked a customer out of spending money rather than into it.

One customer had an alarm going off on a Friday evening, called at ten to nine at night, and got a person who spent ten minutes working through it with him on the phone. The float had come off its pole. He was told how to fix it himself and wrote that most companies would have charged him a service fee to come out.

179 people gave this crew five stars

Out of 245 reviews on the Google listing. The names that come up over and over are the technicians: Gabe, Andre, Chase, Chris and Nick.

Well and septic under one roof

Most companies do one or the other. On a rural property that has both, this is one visit and one set of decisions instead of two contractors discovering each other's constraints on site.

Somebody answers at nine at night

The listed hours are 7 AM to 9 PM, seven days. One customer called at ten to nine on a Friday about an alarm and was walked through checking the float on the phone rather than sold a callout.

Diagnosed before it gets replaced

A customer was told by another septic company that their entire system needed replacing. It needed a pipe cleared. Ask for the reasoning behind any replacement, here or anywhere.

The lid gets found without wrecking the lawn

Google's own review summary lists finding the tank lid as a recurring topic. County records first, probe rod second, shovel last.

You get told how your own system works

Informative staff and personable staff are two of the top topics Google pulls out of these reviews. One customer wrote that the technician was teaching and showing while he worked.

How it goes

How a job actually runs

01
Tell us the symptom on the phone

Slow drains, a smell, an alarm, wet ground, or simply that it is overdue. Ask what the visit costs while you are on the call.

02
The tank gets located and opened

County record first where one exists, then a probe. The condition of the tank is a bigger unknown than the level in it.

03
You get told what is actually wrong

A full tank, a blocked filter, a broken line and a failed field feel identical from inside the house and cost wildly different amounts.

04
The work gets done and the lid goes back

Filter cleaned, lid seated, grass back over it. Ask about ground level risers while somebody is standing there.

An open septic tank being pumped with the hose run back to the truck

I called Ray's back at 8:50PM Friday night, and not only did they answer they talked to me for 10 minutes and methodically went through what to check. We discovered over the phone that the pump float had fallen off the pole and wasn't activating the pump. He described how to fix it over the phone and saved me a lot of money not having to have an emergency response. Unbelievable customer service, most folks would have charged me the service fee.

Andre came out and he was absolutely amazing. Very kind and honest. The prices they have are great but we would honestly be willing to pay more for the customer service. We were told by another septic tank company that we had to replace our entire system, we called Ray's and that was not the case at all. Just needed a pipe cleared.

We've gotten pump outs from another local company every 7 years for the 26 years since we built our house. This time we contacted Ray's Septic. What a difference. The price was substantially less than several other companies and our usual vendor. Andre was without a doubt one of the most customer service focused people I've ever met. He performed the job, cleaned up the work area and was extremely professional.

We used Ray's to pump our ancient tank from the 1930's. Andre was our technician and he was nothing short of spectacular. Found our septic tank, didn't make a huge mess digging, pumped it efficiently, and gave us great tips for taking care of our tank moving forward. All for a very reasonable price.

They sent the most knowledgeable and polite technician, Andre. After he pumped the tank he explained I still had water dripping into the septic tank due to a faulty flapper in the toilet tank, that you could not hear running from inside. I called my plumber to come out and repair, he said Andre was right, bad flapper.

I asked around for a good priced knowledgeable and honest pumping service, most answers were Ray's. I had my pick of any day. Gabe showed up, very knowledgeable. I had just purchased my house so I didn't know where my tank or lid was, but I had the environmental diagram so Gabe found the lid in no time, pumped my tank, and took time to help me understand more about it.

Questions

Questions we get asked

(704) 748-9595

It depends on the tank size and how many people are on it, and anybody who answers that without asking either question is guessing. A technician standing at your open tank can read the sludge level and tell you where you actually are.

That is a normal call, not an unusual one. County environmental health holds a record with a diagram for most systems permitted since the seventies, and between that and a probe rod the lid usually turns up quickly. Google's own summary of our reviews lists finding the tank lid as a recurring topic.

Yes, and that is the point of the name. Ray's is listed under both Septic system service and Well drilling contractor, so a rural property with a well at one end and a tank at the other is one company and one visit.

Ask on the phone before anybody drives out. Get the price for the work, what happens if the tank cannot be located, and confirm you will get an itemized invoice. It is a fair question and you should get a straight answer.

Not necessarily. A full tank, a clogged outlet filter, a blocked line and a stuck pump float all feel identical inside the house, and only one of those is expensive. One customer was told by another company that their whole system needed replacing when a pipe simply needed clearing.

Yes, and it is the most common thing people ask for on the second visit. Say so when you book so the parts come out on the truck.

The Google profile hours are 7 AM to 9 PM, seven days a week. One customer called at ten to nine on a Friday night about an alarm and was talked through checking the float over the phone.

We cover septic tank pumping, septic system installation, septic repair and sewer lines, septic and well inspections, well drilling and water systems and well pump and water pressure repair. Every one of them has its own page with what is included.
